California High-Speed Rail (CA HSR) has selected the joint venture of Foster + Partners and Arup to design the Merced, Fresno, Kings/Tulare, and Bakersfield stations on the initial 275 km segment.

The joint venture will offer design and management services for the first Notice to Proceed (NTP 1) phase, which involves completing the design development and configuration footprint for each station site. There is also an option to move forward to the second Notice to Proceed (NTP 2) phase, which covers final design, construction-ready documents, construction, and commissioning support. The estimated duration for NTP 1 is 30 months. Foster + Partners and Arup are collaborating on planning, architecture, and engineering for the 4 new stations that will serve as models of design for stations planned along the entire 800 km Los Angeles/Anaheim to San Francisco system.

CA HSR is under construction in the Central Valley today with a goal of having the first operable line slated to be complete between 2030-2033.
