The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) has signed a contract with the JV of Arup and Aas-Jakobsen to deliver a detailed design for the Julsundet crossing in Norway.
The 2,010m-long suspension bridge will have a main span of 1,625 m. The bridge will incorporate a separate lane for pedestrians, cyclists and slow-moving vehicles such as mopeds. Arup will provide engineering consultancy services for the project.
The project forms part of the E39 Ålesund to Molde upgrade program, which seeks to strengthen the infrastructure resilience on the E39 road, and will contribute to the ambition of NPRA to create a ferry-free coastal highway in the country.
