Cambridgeshire & Peterborough combined authority in the UK has launched the competition to design the Cambridgeshire Autonomous Metro (CAM) project. The design competition will be conducted in phases. After initial design submission, ten firms will be shortlisted for a three-stage competition. Out of which three firms will be awarded GBP 200,000 (US$ 259,493) to produce conceptual designs in two design and review stages for the railway over a period of three months. All three designs will be presented to the authority.
The winner will be asked to continue working on the project as an adviser until the end of 2022 by which authority will adopt the design for the project. The project is expected to be operational by 2029.
