Metrolinx has selected AECOM, an infrastructure consulting firm to serve as its delivery partner for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension project in Toronto, Canada.
The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension initiative, spanning 9.2 km, extends the forthcoming Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) from the future Mount Dennis Station to Renforth Drive. Upon completion, it will establish a continuous rapid transit line connecting Scarborough, midtown Toronto, and Mississauga. AECOM, as part of the Metrolinx delivery team, will contribute to various aspects of the project's infrastructure, providing a comprehensive range of services, including program management, advisory, commercial management, procurement, supply chain management, and project supervision. The extension will integrate with local and regional transit services such as UP Express, GO Transit rail, TTC, MiWay, and GO Transit buses. While most of the extension will be underground, a segment of the line will run on an elevated guideway between Scarlett Road and Jane Street.
Exploratory plans are underway in collaboration with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority to extend the line to Toronto Pearson International Airport.
