Deutsche Einheit Fernstraßenplanungs- und -bau GmbH (DEGES) in Germany has invited companies to submit new best and final offers (BAFOs) for the expansion of A3 road project. The proposed project provides for an upgrade of the A3 Frankfurt-Nuremberg motorway to three lanes in each direction in the section between kilometre 227.80, east of Kauppen Bridge, to kilometre 235.79, west of junction 64 (Rohrbrunn), making a total of 7.99 kilometres. The present motorway has two lanes in each direction and a crown width of 30 metres. In the area of the Kauppen gradient, between the existing Kauppen Bridge and junction 63 (Weibersbrunn), the Frankfurt-Nuremberg carriageway currently has an extra lane instead of a hard shoulder.

The BAFOs bids are due by the end of September 2019.
