Covanta Holding Corporation has signed a concession agreement with Zhao County, China for the construction and operation of a new Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facility. The project is being developed jointly by Covanta and a strategic local partner.
The project will be implemented under the Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) scheme for a 30-year concession. The US$100 million facility is expected to process up to 1,200 tonnes of waste per day.
The construction of the project is expected to start in early 2020.
