After the Sofia airport concession was awarded to French-German consortium SOF Connect, the decision was taken to court by the remaining four bidders to appeal the selection decision. The court proceeding to appeal is scheduled to be held on May 07, 2020.
SOF consortium consists of Meridiam, Strabag, and Munich Airport. The four rejected bidders include Airport de Paris, TAV, Fraport, Manchester Airport, SSB, and Copenhagen Airport.
Sofia Airport is located 5km east from the center of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. In 2017, it serviced 6.49 million passengers. The 35-year concession concerns the operation and management of all buildings, facilities, and visual air navigation systems within the airport territory, which spans a little over 5km2. It also involves the construction of a third terminal, which must be completed by the tenth year of the concession.
