The Council of Ministers in Spain has issued a ministerial order through the Ministry of Development to modify certain terms in the administrative concession for the construction and operation of the Malaga-AP-46 highway project, Alto section of Las Pedrizas-Málaga, granted by Ministry of Public Works in 2006.

The issued order will allow the concession company for the project, Autopista del Guadalmedina, CESA (Guadalcesa), to expand the highway with the construction of two new link roads. One will connect with the MA-3404 road, in Casabermeja, and another with the MA-20 road in Malaga (the latter also includes the integration in the concession of a section of the A-7 motorway). The plans will create a direct connection between the AP-46 and the corridor of the MA-3404 highway.

The expansion project will increase the tariffs imposed by the concessionaire to compensate for the concession terms. The rate increase will be implemented as part of the modification of the number of days per year in which the high season rate may be applied, which will go from the current 139 to a maximum of 250 days at the year, and another part by an increment of one per 100 cumulative annual during a period of fourteen years.
