San Diego State University (SDSU) has selected Flatiron to spearhead the Fenton Parkway Bridge Project, valued at US$28 million in San Diego, USA.
The proposed bridge, spanning approximately 450 feet, will extend Fenton Parkway over the San Diego River to Camino Del Rio North. This will establish a north-south roadway that is not susceptible to flooding and will align with the trolley crossing. The planned bridge will consist of up to four spans and will include combined bicycle and pedestrian pathways to accommodate the diverse transportation needs of the community. Upon completion, the bridge will become an integral part of the SDSU West Campus development. Following construction, the City of San Diego will take over ownership, operation, and maintenance responsibilities for the bridge, showcasing a collaborative effort among stakeholders to enhance infrastructure, transportation efficiency, and safety in the region. Construction of the Fenton Parkway Bridge is set to commence in October 2024.
