Sturdee Energy, an independent power producer (IPP), has awarded the construction contract to Soventix for the developement of a 3 MWp capacity solar PV plant at a site located in Bobonong. Soventix will also install panels, inverters and other necessary equipment for the plant.
Earlier Sturdee Energy signed 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) for the development of two solar power plants in Bobonong and Shakawe. Bobonong solar plant is being developed simultaneously with the 1 MWp Shakawe project. Sturdee expects to supply will supply 10,000 MWh of electricity to the national grid from these two plants.
