Rail Baltica national implementer, SIA Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas, and “E.R.B. Rail JV PS” have concluded a contract for the construction of the Rail Baltica mainline in Latvia.
The consortium comprised Eiffage Génie Civil SAS (France), Budimex S.A. (Poland), and Rizzani de Eccher S.p.A (Italy) emerged victorious in the international competition. Preliminary preparations for the commencement of mainline construction in Latvia have been finalized, covering aspects such as securing land, securing funding for the initial construction phase, and completing the design. The construction will be executed in phases, with the initial phase focusing on commissioning works in the Bauska region near Iecava, where the future Rail Baltica infrastructure maintenance facility is planned. Construction activities for the Rail Baltica mainline, located outside Riga, will encompass various elements, including railway substructures, embankments, road crossings, and railway superstructures, involving tracks and related infrastructure, spanning around 230 km. The contractor is tasked with providing the Rail Baltica railway mainline infrastructure, covering aspects like track substructures, land preparation, embankment, railway bridges, roads, underground road crossings, transport structure construction, engineering network relocation, and track and ballast installation.
The estimated contract amount under this contract is set at EUR3.7 billion (USD4 billion).
