The contract was officially signed last week for the Malir Expressway Public-private partnership (PPP) project in Karachi.
The Malir Expressway project involves the construction, financing, operation, maintenance and transfer of an access-controlled 39.3 km expressway along the Malir River in Karachi, the capital of the province of Sindh. The six-lane dualized highway, designed for high-speed traffic, will start before Jam Sadiq River Bridge on Korangi Road and end near Kathore at the junction of existing Link Road and M-9 motorway.
The project has a concession period of 28 years, which includes 3 years of construction and 25 years of operations and maintenance.
Construction of the project is expected to begin in the coming 3-4 months after the completion of the financial close.
The Government of Sindh has allocated PKR 39 Billion (USD 241 million) for the project.
