Contract signed for Jubail 3B IWP PPP project in Saudi Arabia

The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, & Chairman of the Board Directors of Saudi Water Partnership Company has signed the agreements with the preferred bidder for the Jubail 3B Independent Water Plant PPP project. The winning consortium comprises Engie, Nesma and Ajlan companies. 

Located in the Eastern Province South of Jubail, the desalination plant will produce up to 570,000 m3/day of potable water. The project will be using reverse osmosis technology and will include solar energy units to reduce the electricity consumption from the grid, in addition to water tanks with a storage capacity of one operational day.

The project will be realized on Build, Own and Operate approach and with a concession period of 25 years. The commercial operation is expected to start in the first quarter of 2024.
