Birmingham City Council and Lendlease have signed a joint venture contract for the Smithfield Birmingham regeneration PPP project in the UK.
With a total investment of GBP1.9 billion (USD2.63 billion), the project involves the redevelopment of a 17-hectare site into a new urban quarter of the city center, which will include Bull Ring Markets, leisure and cultural facilities as well as housing. The project has the potential to create over 3,000 new homes and 8,000 new jobs. The aim is to produce a sustainable, green and inclusive place that puts people at the heart of the development.
The Linklaters team was a legal advisor of Leandlease during the process.
