The City of Alice in Texas and Seven Seas Water Group have announced the contract signing for the construction of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) brackish water desalination plant in the USA.
This is the first PPP to develop a desalination plant in Texas. Under the contract agreement, Seven Seas Water Group will finance, design, build, operate and maintain (DBFOM) a Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO) plant in Alice. The project will have an initial production capacity of 3 million gallons per day (MGD) with the option to expand it.
The contract period is 16.5 years, after which the city will assume ownership of the plant. The desalination plant is expected to be fully operational in 18 months. The project will provide a new source of fresh drinking water for the citizens in an effective and cost-efficient way.
