The Brazil Ministry of Infrastructure and the concessionaire of Guarulhos International Airport have signed an agreement to implement an automated people mover (APM) system.
The APM system will connect the three passenger terminals at the airport to the Line 13-Jade station of the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM). Compare to the current connection, which is implemented by buses, the new way will save travel time and will be less polluting. The APM line will be around 2.7 km long and will consist of three vehicles, each with a capacity for 200 passengers. In addition,it will feature air conditioning, Wi-Fi and luggage space.
The concessionaire, formed by Invepar and Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), will invest BRL271.1 million (US$51.2 million) in the development of the APM system. The construction works are expected to start in January 2022 and will last 2 years.
