Contract signed for 6 MW waste-based power plant in Narayanganj

The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) and Chinese firm U&D have signed a contract to develop a 6 MW waste-based power plant in Narayanganj, Bangladesh.

The power plant will generate electricity from the garbage of Narayanganj city and adjoining areas. Under the agreement, NCC will provide 600 tonnes of municipal waste and 10 ac of land to set up the incineration and power plant at Jalkuri in Narayanganj city. While BPDP agreed to purchase the electricity generated by the plant at a rate of US 20.91 cents (about Tk 20 per unit) for over 25 years.
