Bolivia’s highway authority ABC has awarded Peruvian firm Contratos Mineros e Inversiones’ local subsidiary the US$20 million contract to finish the Incahuasi tunnel.
The Incahuasi tunnel project was initially granted to José Cartellone Construcciones Civiles, an Argentine company. However, due to repeated non-compliance issues, the works were suspended in 2018, and the contract was eventually terminated. The tunnel spans 1.26km, connecting the municipalities of Muyupampa (Chuquisaca department) and Lagunilla (Santa Cruz). As of now, 1 km of the tunnel has been built, leaving the remaining 260 m to be completed by the new contractor Contratos Mineros e Inversiones’ S.A.C (CONTMIN S.A.C).
