A joint venture between Webuild subsidiary Lane Construction and US company Superior Construction has been awarded a US$1 billion contract to rebuild the Westshore Interchange in Tampa, Florida, USA.
The project includes the creation of general use and tolled express lanes, as well as direct ramps to Tampa International Airport. The project will improve safety and capacity to facilitate traffic flow for 400,000 vehicles. The Florida Department of Transportation has already awarded a $10 million contract to companies to plan the project, and the construction contract will be awarded upon completion in November 2023.
Construction is scheduled to start in the spring of 2024. The interchange is planned to be used closer to 2045.
