Dar-es-Salaam Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (DAWASA) have selected Metito to design, construct and operate a new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Mbezi Beach, Kinondoni, Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.
Cutting-edge engineering and advanced technologies will be utilized by the plant to reduce operational and maintenance expenses, enhance the quality of sludge, and decrease the plant's overall carbon footprint. For a period of 3 years, Metito will assume responsibility for operating and maintaining the wastewater treatment facility, with the involvement of DAWASA's personnel in all operational aspects of the plant. When the plant is fully operational, Metito will use conventional activated sludge technology, anaerobic digesters to produce biogas and a combined heat and power (CHP) generating system.
This project is being financed by the Tanzania Government in collaboration with the World Bank. Construction is planned to commence in April 2023 and its commissioning is scheduled for October 2024.
