The Joint Venture of Seymour Whyte and BMD have secured a design and construct contract for Landside Civil and Building Works for the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport in Australia. The contract is valued at AUD528 million (USD391.14 million).
The scope of works involves the design and construction of the airport’s landside facilities including earthworks and drainage, a road network including connections to the terminal precinct, ground transport facilities including car parks, active transport connections to new public transport hubs, ancillary facilities for aviation support functions including the Airport Operations Centre and the Airport Maintenance Facility, public utility networks, communication systems, landscaping, wayfinding and signage.
The airport, which will have a capacity to manage ten million passengers annually, is expected to begin operations in 2026.
