The California Independent System Operator (CAISO) has announced that it has selected LS Power for the Newark – Northern Receiving Station (Newark) high voltage direct current (HVDC) Project and the Metcalf – San Jose B (Metcalf) HVDC Project in California, USA.
The electrical system in and around San Jose is strengthened by the Newark Project and Metcalf Project, which also improves reliability and expands access to affordable, renewable electricity. Each project adds a new high-voltage source to the San Jose region, allowing for the regulation of power flows through HVDC converter stations linked to the region's existing substations.
