The National Government of Columbia has awarded the Cali-Palmira Road PPP project, which is the first concession of the Bicentennial-5G. The winning consortium is Plural Structure PRC-MC, whose sole company is Rodovías Colombia, a subsidiary of Patria Investments. The consortium has proven financial capacity and investment experience to be in charge of the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of a road network.
The project, knowns as New Malla Vial del Valle del Cauca, is a 310-km long road, that connects Cali and Palmira provinces. It includes the construction of a new road and extra lanes, re-development of existing corridors, as well as the construction of interchanges and bridges for vehicles and pedestrians among others. The development of the road corridor is expected to generate 40,000 direct and indirect jobs. The contract period for operation and maintenance of the project is up to 29 years.
The signing of the contract will take place within 15 working days following the award hearing. The pre-construction period will take about 1 year, after which construction work is estimated to begin in the second half of 2022.
