Contract awarded for SWTP PPP in Cienega

Organismo Público Descentralizado Intermunicipal de La Ciénega has selected a winning team for the development of the Solid Waste Treatment Plant PPP in the region of Cienega, Mexico.

The contract winners are Transilmex Inc, Railroad Operator and Landfill Management, Constructora Eunice and JSM Recycle. The team will be responsible for the design, construction, equipment, operation and maintenance of a solid urban waste treatment center. With an estimated investment of MXN442.17 million (US$ 20.73 million), the project is expected to be completed within a year and includes a 20 year-period for operation and maintenance. 

The aim of the project is to achieve comprehensive management of solid waste in the municipalities of Cojumatlán de Régules, Sahuayo, Jiquilpan, Villamar and Venustiano Carranza. This can be done through organizing an efficient collection and transfer system, the reuse and recovery of marketable waste and reducing the amount of waste that goes to the regional landfill.
