The IP Sul Consortium has won the auction for the concession of the public lighting service in Porto Alegre in São Paulo. The concessionaire won the auction with a bid of BRL 1.745 million (US$ 0.33 million), amount with a reduction of more than 45% in relation to the maximum amount initially established in the bid.
The project with a partnership with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), provides for the exchange of more than 100 thousand lighting points for LED lamps, which will generate savings of around 50%. The duration of the contract is 20 years.
The concessionaire will also be responsible for expanding the lighting services. The municipality of Porto Alegre will act as a manager evaluating the concessionaire's performance.
