The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), in collaboration with the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), has selected French consortium Eléctricité de France (EDF) and ENGIE to deliver the Phase 2 street lighting public-private partnership (PPP) project in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
This project includes the finance, supply, installation, operation and maintenance of 133,473 LED energy-efficient luminaires and metal halide (MH) streetlights and their wireless connection to the road lighting control center.
The project contributed to electricity savings of almost 2,400 million kWh, equivalent to a reduction in electricity consumption of approximately 74% over the 12-year concession period. The consortium will implement the project in 5 phases covering small geographic areas of Abu Dhabi. EDF and ENGIE signed a contract with DMT after a three-stage evaluation of proposals and created a 50-50 joint venture called Nojoom to deliver the project.
AD Ports Group has awarded China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) a contract to develop buildings and topside infrastructure at Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi.
