JSW Energy has announced that its subsidiary, JSW Renew Energy Five Ltd. (JSWEL), has received letters of award (LoA) for 500 MW/1,000 MWH standalone battery energy storage systems from Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI).
The project involves the construction of 500 MW/1,000 MWH standalone battery energy storage systems in India. The system consists of two projects of 250 MW/500 MWh capacity each. JSWEL is entitled to a fixed capacity fee of INR10.8 lakh (US$13,277) per MW per month for 12 years. JSWEL will manage 40% of the project capacity and SECI commitments are to be capped at 60%.
The project is a step towards energy security and stability of the Indian energy system. The project is in line with JSWEL's long-term strategy for the transition to the production of energy products and solutions.
