The Cavite provincial government has awarded a contract to Virata-Yuchengco-led SPIA Development Consortium for the development of the Sangley Point International Airport (SPIA) PPP project in Cavite, Philippines.
The winning Consortium which includes the Yuchengco Group's House of Investments, Luis Virata’s Cavitex Holdings, and Lucio Tan’s MacroAsia will be responsible for the design, construction and finance of a new international airport to be built over a 1,500-ha site in Sangley Point. The airport will consist of four runways and will handle around 130 million passengers.
The consortium is joined by other companies like Samsung C&T Corporation and Munich Airport International GmbH.
