The consortium led by Macquarie Capital has been awarded a contract for the improvement and operation of the Ruta Minera in Chile. The 137 km long Ruta Minera is a private industrial road that connects the Minera Escondida to Ruta 5 highway. The consortium comprises Macquarie Capital, Besalco S.A., and Arrigoni S.A.
The consortium will undertake construction works including widening sections, adding third lanes for more than 20 km of road, and adding hard shoulders to parts of the road. It will also introduce updated horizontal and vertical signage, surveillance cameras, and security signage.
The project is expected to generate about 200 jobs during the construction phase and an additional 80 jobs for ongoing road operations.
