The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) of Colombia has awarded the Puerto Salgar to Barrancabermeja road concession to Magdalena Medio Highway Plural Structure. The consortium is made up of KMA Construcciones SAS (50%) and Ortiz Construcciones y Proyectos SA (50%).
The Troncal Magdalena 1 project involves the intervention works for a 259.6 km-long highway connecting Puerto Salgar to Barrancabermeja, the construction of 146.4 km of the second road, the improvement works on 147.9 km of existing road and the rehabilitation of 5.08 km of the existing road.
The estimated investment value for the project is COP2.07 billion (US$525.31 million). The project is expected to generate 58,300 direct and indirect jobs to the benefit of 327,835 inhabitants residing in the vicinity of the highway.
