The Ministry of Public Works in Chile has awarded the concession of La Serena Hospital to a team formed by contractor Acciona and Concesiones Chile Holdings.
Worth US$258 million, the PPP hospital project is located in the north of the country and will benefit residents of the communes of La Serena, La Higuera, Vicuña and Paihuan. The 121,000 square meters healthcare complex will have 668 beds and will serve a population of 700,000 people. In addition, there will be 15 pavilions offering medical, dental and non-medical consultations.
Acciona Concesiones and Concesiones Chile Holdings will be responsible for the construction of the hospital and operation for 15 years. The awarding process will be concluded during the first quarter of 2022, after which its construction is expected to start during the first half of 2023. The hospital is planned to be operational in 2026.
