The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has awarded The Lane Construction Corp, a subsidiary of Webuild, a US$218 million contract for capacity and safety improvements at an Interstate 4 (I-4) interchange in Orlando, Florida, the USA.
The project involves the construction of a “diverging diamond” interchange with the I-4, which connects tourist attractions such as Walt Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios Orlando. The project should reduce traffic, waiting times at traffic lights, total travel time and carbon emissions. Lane Construction will work to replace two bridges, build a preferential lane bridge, add three entrances, install a toll and signal system, develop water and sanitation systems, and other infrastructure at the base.
Lane Construction plans to complete the work in 2026.
