Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd (NTA) in Israel has awarded the Green Line Rail Transit (LRT) concession in Tel Aviv to TMT Consortium, comprising of Alstom, Electra Ltd. and Dan Transportation.
The Green line, valued at EUR2.6 billion (US$2.77 billion), is 39 km long and will run in the north-south direction of Tel Aviv. It will have 63 stations, out of which 5 stations will be underground along with a 4.25 km tunnel section. The line will be operated using 120 lower-floor light rail vehicles.
Alstom’s responsibility includes the design, engineering, supply, integration, testing and commissioning of the railway system including tracks, electrification, power supply (Hesop, energy saving system), signalling, communication system and the supply of 98 Citadis XO5 trams. Electra will manage the design and construction of the civil works. System maintenance will be performed by a joint venture composed of Dan Transportation, Electra and Alstom.
