Skanska has signed a contract with the Norwegian Road Authority to build the E39 Rogfastt twin-tube road tunnel under a public-private partnership (PPP) model in Rogaland County, Norway.
The contract is valued at about NOK5 billion (US$505 million) and about SEK5.2 billion (US$505 million) which will be included in Nordic orders for Q4 of 2022. The project involves the construction of a 27 km Boknafjord subsea road tunnel between the Randaberg and Bokn in Rogaland County, Norway. The tunnel will be the longest and deepest underwater road tunnel in the world at 392 m below sea level. Part of the project is the construction of the E04 Boknafjord tunnel North, which will be built by Skanska. E04 Boknafjord tunnel North comprises 18.5 km of road in the tunnel and 2 km of the road above ground.
Construction work is scheduled to begin in Q1 of 2023 and be completed in Q3 of 2029.
