The Italian Ministry for Infrastructures and Transport has granted a concession contract for the operations rights of the five Italian highways to the SIS consortium, formed by Sacyr and Fininc.
Located near Turin, the awarded road stretches are A21 Turin-Alexandria-Piacenza, A5 Turin-Ivrea-Quincinetto, connecting highway A4/A5 Ivrea-Santhià as well as Turin’s Beltway Highways System (Sistema Autostradale Tangenziale Torinese, Satt) and the Turin-Pinerolo stretch. These roads are already operational and together have a total of 320 kilometers with the average daily traffic is close to 33,000 vehicles.
The concession contract is given for a period of 12 years, during which the winning consortium will design and execute improvement works. The estimated investment in the project is EUR800 million (US$967.40 million). The highways are strategic to accessibility in northern Italy, connecting Turin to other large cities of the area.
