Sisk has won a contract for Community Nursing Units (CNUs) public-private partnership (PPP) project in Ireland.
The EUR250 million (US$264 million) project involves the construction of facilities for the care of the elderly, including both short-term and long-term beds in a total of 530 units at the Ardee, Athlone, Clonmel, Thomastown, Killarney, Midleton, St Finbarr’s (Cork). The buildings will mostly be two-story, except for St Finbarr's, which will have a two and three-story superstructure due to the nature of the site. The facilities will be located on sites owned by Ireland’s Health Service Executive (HSE) close to existing healthcare premises. The Equisisk joint venture, which includes investor Equitix and John Sisk & Sons, will serve care homes for 25 years.
All facilities are planned to be completed by the end of 2024. Construction of five facilities at the Ardee, Clonmel, Killarney, St Finbarr’s – Cork and Thomastown will begin before Christmas 2022, and two more at the Athlone and Midleton by early 2023.
