DEGES, the public body for developing transport infrastructure in Germany, has awarded a contract to VINCI Concessions for the new federal road B247. The road will link the cities of Mühlhausen and Bad Langensalza, in the Land of Thuringia, Bavaria.
The contract is awarded for 30 years and represents a total investment of EUR500 million (US$589 million) including EUR350 million (US$412.3 million) for the construction phase. The selected partner will be responsible for the design, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of a 22 km-long federal road. Design and build also include an additional 6 km of crossing sections.
Income of VINCI Concessions will be based on availability criterion, without any traffic risk (availability payment). The financial closing of the project is expected in September 2021. The construction is estimated to last about 4 years and will be implemented by VINCI Construction entities in Germany (Eurovia Deutschland and VINCI Construction Terrassement).
