The Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has signed an agreement with a consortium of Foster + Partners and Buro Happold Limited for the development of CPK's airport located between Warsaw and Łodz, Poland.
The PLN696 million (US$152.95 million) contract includes designing the passenger terminal building, railway station and public transport interchange. Key CPK buildings' concept designs is expected to be completed as early as the middle of 2023, and all other design services must be completed within 2.5 years of the contract's end.
The first design ideas of Foster + Partners include a landside interchange plaza that connects the hub’s three main modes of transport: air, rail and road. The airport will have a capacity of 40 million passengers which can be expanded up to 60 million. It is expected to be completed in 2028.
