San Mateo County Transit District and Cross Bay Transit Partners along with its private partners - Facebook, Inc. and Plenary Group, have launched a community consultation about the development of the Dumbarton Transportation Corridor Project in California, USA.

The project involves the development of a public transit system that connects Alameda, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties in California. The transit system includes a new rail service along with a rebuilt Dumbarton Rail Bridge with connections to existing commuter and intercity rail services; bus and shared-ride commute options on the Dumbarton Highway Bridge; and further complementary bicycle and pedestrian connections. The project is planned to be implemented under the public-private partnership (PPP/P3) scheme.

In 2016, Facebook has commissioned the Dumbarton Transportation Corridor Study that seeks to address the growing traffic congestion in the area. The Transit District Board of Directors has adopted the study in December 2017.

The introductory meeting about the project will be held on February 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Project partners will be on hand to share information about project background, goals, funding, timeline, and process, followed by ample time for questions and answers.

Working collaboratively with project partners, the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA), Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC), and AC Transit, the study evaluated a variety of transportation alternatives on the Dumbarton Bridge (Highway 84) and its approaches, as well as examined how to rehabilitate and repurpose the Dumbarton rail bridge for transit purposes.
