The King Fahad Causeway Authority in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain has signed a consultancy contract for the transitional phase of the bridge project parallel to the King Fahd Causeway linking the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain with a consortium led by KPMG. The winning consortium and their roles are KPMG as Financial Consultancy Company, AECOM as Technical Consultancy Company and CMS as Legal Consultancy Company.
The 25km King Hamad Causeway will have three lanes in each direction, for road-users, passenger trains and freight trains, respectively. It will relieve increasing congestion on the existing King Fahd Causeway, which opened in 1986. The project will be executed on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis.
