Consultant sought for development of Durban Container Terminal

South Africa’s Transnet has requested proposals for marine, civil, and electrical engineering works for the deepening and refurbishment of Berth 203 to 205 Durban Container Terminal at the Port of Durban in South Africa.

The project involves expanding a port through:

  • Dredging, sandbank extension, and reclamation.
  • Demolishing structures and improving ground.
  • Building new and reinforced quays.
  • Filling, capping, and installing quay furniture.
  • Creating new crane rail support and back of quay paving.
  • Installing utilities and monitoring environmental factors.

The employer aims to complete the project by the specified date, upholding top environmental, quality, and safety standards. Specific objectives include deepening and refurbishing berths for larger vessels, establishing a three-berth terminal for Post Panamax container ships, and ensuring two operational berths during construction to minimize disruptions to port operations.
