The House of Representatives' committee in Philipines approved a measure granting a franchise to the leading conglomerate San Miguel Corporation (SMC) to build and operate an international airport in Bulacan. The Committee approved the substitute bill, particularly its significant tax provisions, that will allow SMC to build a new airport to be dubbed as the “New Manila International Airport” in the coastal areas of Bulakan, Bulacan, around 30 kilometers north of Metro Manila.
The project is expected to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and support growth and development in Central Luzon.
