New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has held a ceremony for its off-shore wind port project in the USA.
During phase 1, the off-shore wind port will be developed at a 30-acre site located on an artificial island on the eastern shores of the Delaware River, southwest of the City of Salem. The project aims to achieve New Jersey's objectives of reaching 100% clean energy by 2050 and 7.5GW of offshore wind energy by 2035. Earthworks for the project are expected to commence soon, while major construction works will begin in December 2021. Phase 1 of the project is scheduled to be operational by 2024.
The project is being developed by Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind, a consortium formed by EDF Renewables North America, Shell New Energies US, and Ørsted A/S. Aecom and Tishman will provide construction management services for the project.
