After commissioning of the first section in 2019, Bogotá - Girardot road project owners, Via 40 Express, have resumed work to complete rehabilitation works on seven sections with a total length of 126 km. Via 40 Express consists of Conconcreto, VINCI Construction Grands Projets, and VINCI Construction Terrassement.

The second section will be widened with a third lane by 2.8 km between its three new tunnels with a total length of 2.2 km, and the last five through the construction of a third lane 69.0 km long on the right carriageway and 59.5 km on the left carriageway. This major highway project is one of the largest in Colombia and will create 14,000 direct, indirect and induced jobs.

The work began in early 2021 with the delivery of this construction site scheduled for the beginning of 2025.
