Colombo West International Terminal Pvt. Ltd has said that have started the construction work of the Colombo Port's Western Container Terminal (WCT) in Sri Lanka.
The consortium responsible for the implementation of the WCT project includes Adani Ports and Special Economic Zones Ltd. (APSEZ), John Keells Holdings PLC, and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA). APSEZ, representing the Adani group, will have a controlling interest of 51%, while local partner John Keels Holding PLC will hold 34%, and the remaining 15% equity will be held by the SLPA.
The completion of the 1st phase of the project is scheduled for Q3 of 2024, while the entire project is anticipated to be finalized by the end of 2025.
