The Region of Occitania has inaugurated the concession for Port La Nouvelle in France.
The public partners, Region of Occitania and Banque des Territoires (Caisse des Dépôts), and a private shareholder group Nou Vela form a SEMOP (a single-purpose public-private partnership) with 49% and 51%, respectively. Nou Vela consortium is made up of DEME Concessions, Euroports, EPICO (European Projects Investment Company) and QAIR.
The SEMOP is responsible for the construction, operation, management and development of the commercial port of Port-La Nouvelle. To develop the port, the SEMOP is entrusting the construction of the port infrastructure and dredging operations to DEME, through its subsidiaries Société de Dragage International and DEME Infra, via an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract. QAIR is responsible for developing, financing, building and operating the renewable energy power plants supplying competitively priced green energy to the SEMOP and the port operators.
