The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) of Paraguay has announced that Construction progress for the Hospital del Sur public-private partnership (PPP) project in Itapúa reached 20%.
The hospital plans to create 266 beds for inpatients and intensive care units, as well as 111 beds for emergency, operating rooms, gynecology and obstetrics. Now work on the project is being carried out up to the upper floors of the building. For construction work, 190 people are involved, of which 80% correspond to citizens of the department of Itapua. The future Hospital del Sur is located on a plot of 4 ha, of which 39,355 m² is allocated for the main building of the hospital. At this stage, they are finishing the entire concrete structure, which is 93% complete. Completion of these works will allow starting the first installation work inside the building.
The project is financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in the amount of PYG209,99 million (US$28.27 million). The project is being built by a consortium consisting of Sociedad Constructora Chaco SA, Barrail Hermanos SA de Construcciones, EISA and Ricardo Díaz Martinez. The term for the performance of works is 24 months.
