SYSTRA has progressed to the construction phase of Taoyuan Mass Rapid Transit System's Brown Line which serves Taoyuan City, as well as parts of New Taipei City and Taipei City, in Taiwan.
SYSTRA supported the client, Taoyuan Metro Corporation, in selecting the system and completing the basic design, which is now advancing to the construction phase. This next project phase will be executed in partnership with engineering consultants TY Lin Taiwan.
The Brown Line will connect with the Taoyuan Green Line at BRH01 station and continue to join the MRT Zhonghe–Xinlu line at BRH07 station. The project aims to enhance connectivity between Taoyuan and the Greater Taipei area, serving a population of 10 million. It will provide the shortest transportation corridor between Taipei and Taoyuan, reducing travel time to 18 minutes (compared to 47 min before). The Taoyuan Metro, officially the Taoyuan Mass Rapid Transit System, serves Taoyuan City, as well as parts of New Taipei City and Taipei City, in Taiwan. The Airport line, officially the Taoyuan Airport MRT opened for service in 2017. There are currently 11 other lines and extensions at the planning stage or under construction, including the Brown Line.
