Construction phase begins for New Road Network of Valle del Cauca, Cali-Palmira Access

The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has begun the construction phase of the Fifth Generation (5G) New Road Network of Valle del Cauca, Cali-Palmira Access in Colombia.

The New Road Network of the Cauca Valley, known as the Cali-Palmira Access, involves the construction, enhancement, and repair of 310 km of roads linking Cali, Yumbo, Mediacanoa, Buga, Palmira, Candelaria in Valle del Cauca, and Villarica, Puerto Tejada, and Santander de Quilichao in Cauca. The project commences with Functional Units 1, 2, 3, and 5, focusing on activities like network relocation, demolitions, camp setup, and topographic surveys.

In UF1 (Yumbo – Mediacanoa and Palmira-Buga), work begins on the Providencia Intersection, El Cerrito – Buga Intersection, and Mulaló – La Torre sector rehabilitation. Also, improvements on the Palmira – Candelaria route include earthworks and drainage enhancements.

UF3 (Avenida Bicentenario) initiates Avenida Bicentenario construction involving grading and drainage work.

UF5 (Cali-Yumbo) commences rehabilitation in the Sameco – Glorieta Cencar sector and constructs the second carriageway from Cencar Glorieta to the Américas Glorieta, involving grading and drainage activities. The project includes 15.8 km of new road, 12.6 km of second carriageway, and rehabilitation of 287 km of existing corridors.
