The construction of the Depp-Sea Badagry Port PPP project is expected to begin in June 2022 in Nigeria. The state has granted approval by the federal government in April of 2021.
The port will occupy land measuring over 1,000 hectares and will include a free trade zone and a container terminal. Once operational, the project will improve the lives of Badagry, the state and the West African region, by creating a number of job opportunities for the citizens and positioning the country to be the first one in Africa with the largest cargo container port.
The total estimated cost of the project is US$2.6 billion. The development of a deep-sea port is carried out by a consortium of APM Terminals, Orlean Invest, Oando, Terminal Investment Ltd., and Macquarie.
